Shawna Lauer, LMFT
Therapist in Charlotte, NC
If you’re a woman or mother struggling with anxiety or depression, you are not alone. I am here to help you feel like yourself again.
I understand whole-heartedly the challenges that women face when experiencing infertility, pregnancy, grief/loss, trauma and postpartum depression. Women often feel stressed out by the transition to parenthood, adjusting to new roles, relationship changes and struggles, major career decisions, caring for a baby and parenting young children. I’ve dedicated my career to helping families thrive, grow and heal and we will work together to help you feel better.
As women, we often put the needs of others before our own, and this can cause us to feel stressed and anxious. As a professional, and also as a mother, I am here to help you through this challenging time. Remember, it's important to apply your own "oxygen mask" before assisting others. I will provide you with a comfortable safe space to share your feelings and to take care of yourself so you can heal and be there for your loved ones.
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with specialized training in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders, evidenced-based treatments and culturally responsive counseling. I completed my undergraduate education at the University of Illinois and graduated with a Master’s degree from Northwestern University in 2002. My services are inclusive, welcoming all races, cultures, faiths, sexual orientations and family configurations.
